Usually the second is more difficult than the first.

Don’t by driven by just the appeal of a closet organization system. Make sure you find out about the quality of it. Is it something that is going to hold up to the weight of the products you store in your closet area? Are you going to have to replace the items in a year or two or will they last ten to twenty years? It is cost effective to spend more now than to have to invest your time and money having to redo it down the road.

Keeping It Organized

If you’ve already de-cluttered and gotten rid of the duplicates, now is the time to set up some rules to keep it that way.

  1. If you bring in something new, get rid of something old. This way, you’ll keep space in your closet.
  2. Once a season, go in and put everything in its place. At least then the clutter won’t get so out of hand.

  4. Go through your food pantry and pull the items you haven’t used (and probably never will) or the duplicates, and donate them to a food bank.
  5. Keep lists of what you already own. That way you won’t buy another black shirt when you already have three. You won’t buy another jar of peanut butter forgetting you’d bought the two-pack from Costco.

And remember to choose one closet at a time. Don’t get overwhelmed.
